Customer service resume example
Customer service hiring managers look for three things fast: volume (how many contacts you handle), quality (satisfaction or resolution scores) and the tools you already know. This example leads with all three.
Skills to include
Hard skills
- Zendesk or Freshdesk
- Salesforce Service Cloud
- Live chat and email support
- Billing and refunds
- Typing speed (WPM)
- Order management systems
Soft skills
- De-escalation
- Active listening
- Patience under volume
- Clear written tone
- Ownership of follow-ups
How to write it
- Put your satisfaction score (CSAT) or first-contact resolution rate in the first bullet; it is the number most managers ask about.
- Give your volume per shift or per day. "Handled customer calls" says nothing; "60–80 calls a shift" says a lot.
- List every help-desk and CRM tool by name. Recruiters search for "Zendesk" and "Salesforce", not "ticketing software".
Example bullet points
- Handle 60–80 calls and chats per shift on billing, device and plan questions
- Hold a 96% customer satisfaction score against a 90% team target
- Resolve 82% of issues on first contact by learning billing edge cases the script misses
- Mentor 4 new hires through their first month on the queue
- Checked in 120+ guests a day during peak season with an average wait under 5 minutes
- Turned complaints into return stays by offering targeted upgrades within policy
In the builder, the "Sharpen these bullets" button rewrites your own lines in this style without inventing facts.
Questions
What should a customer service resume summary say?
Your years in support, the channels you work in (phone, chat, email), one metric such as CSAT, and the tools you use. Two sentences is enough.
What if I have no customer service job yet?
Retail, hospitality, food service and volunteer front-desk work all count. Describe the people you served, how many, and any praise or repeat business you earned.
