Simple resume template
The Simple template is the one to pick when you do not know who, or what, will read your resume first. One column, a centred name block, and a thin rule under each heading. Nothing a parser can trip on, nothing a recruiter has to decode.
ATS compatibility: Excellent
What is in the layout
- Single column, top-to-bottom reading order
- Carlito at 11 pt, a metric twin of Calibri (the Word default), so line breaks match what a recruiter sees in Word
- Standard headings: Summary, Experience, Education, Skills
- Dates right-aligned on the same line as each job, where the eye scans for them
Tips for this template
- Keep bullets to one or two lines each; the simple layout shows ragged bullets clearly.
- Use the Summary to name your target role in the first five words.
- If the page is under 70% full, add a Projects or Certifications section rather than enlarging the font past 12 pt.
Best for: Any job, especially large employers using Workday, Taleo or iCIMS.
